PRINCE2(tm)

PRojects IN Controlled Environments, Version 2 is a structured method for effective project management. It is a defacto standard used extensively by the UK Government. PRINCE was established by the Office of Government Commerce (OGC) in the UK.

PRINCE2(tm) uses the business case to start, continue and terminate a project. A PRINCE2(tm) project has the following characteristics:

A finite and defined Life
Defined and measurable Business Deliverables/Outcomes
Corresponding set of Activities to Achieve the Business Products
Defined amount of Resources
An Organisation Structure with defined Responsibilities to Manage the Project.

 

PRINCE2(tm) uses some 8 major processes and 8 components to effectively manage projects.
